Description

Maine Project Learning Tree (MEPLT) invites you to join an Exploring Environmental Issues: Focus on Forests workshop at Unity College on Saturday, October 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students, faculty and the greater Unity community are invited to sign up for this session, which is designed to foster a general appreciation of forest lands in North America and specifically in Maine.

The Focus on Forests activities provide an opportunity for hands-on study of forest resources while addressing current concepts in science, technology, and math, and other subject areas. Lesson plans include information on forest topics, including invasive species, land use practices, climate change, and forest health.

Along with our facilitators, a Maine Forest Service biometrician, a teacher, and the MEPLT Coordinator, participants will explore the Focus on Forests guide, apply lessons to individual needs, and gain a greater understanding of the Maine forests.

National Project Learning Tree is a program of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and MEPLT is a program of the Maine TREE Foundation.
